Our Story

From Matt Haynes - Owner

I’ve wanted to own a gym since I was a sophomore in high school. My coaching journey began at Ranger CrossFit in McAllen, Texas, and from that moment on, I knew fitness would always be my path.

In 2017, my wife and I moved to Fort Worth for her medical residency. Neither of us had ever been here, and I had to figure out what was next for me. I immediately thought about opening a gym, but with more than a dozen CrossFit affiliates already in the area, it didn’t feel like the right time. Instead, I joined what I believed was the best CrossFit gym in town, which gave me the opportunity to learn, grow, and get to know the Fort Worth fitness community.

After some time, I realized there was space for another CrossFit gym… one with a different vision. I wanted to create what I call a “high-end CrossFit experience”: a space with brand-new equipment, air conditioning, thoughtful amenities, and a constant commitment to improvement.

That vision came to life on August 1, 2018, when CrossFit Westwood opened its doors. From day one, our core offering has been 1-hour group fitness classes, which remain the heartbeat of our community. But we’ve never stopped evolving.

Our drive to keep improving led to the creation of Westwood Fitness: a second, hybrid facility designed to complement our CrossFit classes. This unique two-gym setup combines traditional “globo-gym” equipment with all the staples of CrossFit, giving our members the flexibility to train however and whenever they want.

At Westwood, our mission is simple: to provide a space that grows with our members’ goals, schedules, and lives. Whether through expert-led group classes or open-gym access, we are committed to creating an environment where anyone can find the right fit for their fitness journey.

WELCOME TO WESTWOOD!
